A race between life and death
Mar. 4th, 2005 12:41 amThe family life lately has been stressful.
I haven't really mentioned my step dad before.
He is a great guy who married my mom
after I had moved out and been married myself.
I have always been grateful to him for being a wonderful
addition to my mothers life. He and I have gotten along well.
He is dying. A truly nasty form of cancer has returned after 5
years. He literally has weeks to live. He is refusing treatment
this time and all of us are on his side on this.
Right along the side of this my niece is having a baby.
They are inducing labor in the morning. We have been
so hoping that he would be able to hang on long enough
to see the baby. And now it's going to happen.
I'm feeling equal parts happy , guilty and relieved .

cope. It a boy and he and mom are doing great.

Date: 2005-03-05 07:18 am (UTC)We are all actually feeling rather lucky tonight.
It's a healthy boy and we got the time we needed
to bring them together. Not too shabby , considering.
