Here is the Scorpius Ficathon Entry requested by
[livejournal.com profile] kazbaby.

She asked for John and Scorpy working together as scientists.
Here is my slightly twisted take on that.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda for putting this together.
I look forward to reading the results.

Scorpius walked swiftly. His gaze swept the corridor as he moved through it. It echoed with voices and the hum of of the outpost mechanics. It’s dark sleek planes pleased him. The chambers that he passed contained latest technological equipment. Calls had been sent to the far reaches of the galaxy for the most highly skilled scientists and technicians. He had supervised every aspect of it’s construction. This base was to be his legacy. There remained but one thing to complete his plans. He needed the contribution of one particular individual. He needed Crichton.

John Crichton had encountered many strange and wondrous things in the Uncharted Territories. The sheer variety of freaktastic he came across regularly would had broken a lesser man. But his adaptability and sheer stubbornness had saved his ass on countless occasions. But this latest development was bordering on way too much. He had just received a summons from a most unexpected source. Yep, Scorpius, the leather clad freak himself , was cordially requesting his assistance. He sat back on the galley bench and stacked his ankles on the floor.
The message arrived over a long range transmission. He had already watched it twice, finding it difficult to wrap his mind around this blast from the past. They had not seen and had heard very little of Scorpius for over 12 cycles. There were rumors , of course. The former scourge of his existence was supposed to be doing good now. There was some mention of an Academy or something. It could be worth responding to the summons. If nothing else, it would give him a chance to see for himself what old blue eyes was up to. But he knew that this was a decision he could not make without some extensive debate with the wife. Sighing , John got to his feet and commed Aeryn to meet him in command.

There was a strong sense of deja vu as the transport pod broke out of atmosphere on the large moon. John watched their progress out of the front port. It looked fertile, almost pastoral. The craft flew over large seas and a variety of terrain. Soon, the beacon lead them to a huge cliffside compound with a hangar open to the air. They glided in. Taking a deep breath, John hit the door release and turned to his landing party.

“Here goes nothing, I hope” he said.

They were met by an old acquaintance. Braca stood at he end of the pod ramp. Time had been very kind to Scorpy’s right hand man. He maintained the old Peacekeeper bearing, right down to the boots .

“Crichton, it is a pleasure to see you again. I have been sent to escort you. We have heard many interesting reports of you and your family.” Braca said , advancing with a small smile. “ I am often asked to tell our trainees the story of our exploits on Qujaga.”

“ Old heroics, huh. Well as interesting as that might be , I’m a little more interested in current events. What's up , Braca ? Why the invitation after all this time ? “ John asked

“ I think I should leave the explanation to Scorpius” Braca replied “ Shall we go?”

The peace had freed Scorpius. HIs former pursuits in war turned to a single pursuit of pure science. Scorpius’ own twisted history naturally lead him to the study of other hybrids. He knew the hell that untamed genetic experiments could produce. He set his considerable skills toward the goal correcting that hell by mapping the genetic makeup of all species. His break through came while studying the Eidelons. It occurred to him that they had covered much the same ground. They had made genetic modifications in the original Peacekeepers. He could do the same. It only required one more element. The human genome had advanced in the thousands of cycles since the Eidelons had sampled it. If it could be combined with the present descendants of all three groups the results could be spectacular. He could combine the strengths of all races with out the barbaric methods that the Scarrans had used.

Scorpius paced his work space in deep thought. His intellect battled with his undeniable emotion. It was not pleasant to depend upon the whim of another for what he needed. But it was essential to secure Crichton’s cooperation. He no longer had the old tools of persuasion at his command, but in the last 12 cycles he had gained an arsenal of new ones. He had found a cause, a reason for living, And he was certain that he could enlist Crichton in it. He turned to the door , sensing the arrival of the very one he thought of.

Chricton crossed the threshold followed by Aeryn and their son. They moved as a unit , all with a contained curiosity and calm. Scorpius took in the small changes that the cycles had made on John .

“ You look well , John, as does your family “ Scorpius exclaimed “ I confess that did not expect our paths to cross again. But I am glad that you are all here now. Please come in and sit. I believe that I have something of value to offer to all of you.”

“I’m listening” John replied.
