hurtling through the atmosphere
May. 4th, 2004 08:50 pmWell I'm back from the opposite side of the Atlantic.
I enjoy every part of the traveling thing except the parts
connected with airports. I have the overwhelming sense
of being a heifer in the stockyards every time I see the
airline billboards coming up on the highway.
I live for the sahara like atmosphere inside the loud
metal tube that holds you prisoner for 8 hours plus. The completely
inedible excuse for food they serve only adds to the ambiance.
But I did have one fun moment. Being a dog lover, I always find the various
working canines interesting. There was a truly adorable young "trainee"
USDA beagle working this afternoon. He was being filmed and evaluated.
So there is the dog , the handler, and two guys with video cams and clipboards weaving among the throngs of jet lagged travelers. It made me
smile. And I never smile at the airport.
